Pick up a text editor of your choice, like Atom, Sublime or Notepad++. I personally like to use Atom because it has some good plugins (like Emmet and complete-html) that enhance your coding job. Test them out and find which one supports you better. Like Ivan pointed out, you can use some IDEs like PHPStorm or IntelliJ. If you want to see what is going on while you code, you can also check Brackets (has some great funcions and is made with JavaScript).
