Some companies don't require Ruby developers/development, so you can still develop using other codes. Some of the biggest sites out there, including at least one owned by multiple entertainment companies, have been using Ruby On Rails for development. It's a good coding system, and, if nothing else, every code you learn opens more doors.

Ruby is very useful. I can't remember exactly what for, but if you check out the start of the Ruby course, it should tell you what it's for. If you learn Ruby, it opens up a whole new world of cool code possibilities.

Although Ruby may not be the most common language used in jobs, Ruby is beneficial due to its simplicity and effectiveness.

You're not mandatory to learn Ruby, or ask to anybody who constrain you to ;P
