Somebody please break down this for me ^
I️ have no idea how it works (exponent ion?)

Exponentation means you multiply a number by itself a certain number of times
For instance, x^n = x*x*x*...*x (n times)
Or 2^3 = 2*2*2 = 8

Now if you want some recursion form.
2^n = 2*2^(n-1) = 2*2*2^(n-2) ..... Until the exponent = 0
