How to be a programmer?

I am a grade 11 students and curious about what programmers does.

Programmers tell to a computer what to do by line of codes. Then the computer undertands this and does what is written in the code. For example, a programer can tell a computer to create a web page or to make a funny game putting elements in your screen in a certain order. Programmers write sotware or programms for companies that hire them

Not everyone gets paid for it though -- plenty of people produce open-source code in their free time and work a non-programming job to pay the bills.
