What is overloading in function means?

okay it says you can ads more than 2 data types,but what is its use?

In java it means using the same method (function) multiple times by changing the parameters used in those methods.
example.
methodA (apples, oranges, pears)
methodA (apples, oranges)
methodA (apples)
