Python good in Accounting?

Question

I keep hearing that Python is good for accountants to learn, but haven’t really heard a compelling case stating why. Anyone out there have any good reasons for learning it, and it’s practical application within attest and tax work?

Python is a general purpose programming language created in the late 1980s, and named after Monty Python, that's used by thousands of people to do things from testing microchips at Intel, to powering Instagram, to building video games with the PyGame library.
