What should I do if I don't understand the basic things?

Should I give up or try something else?

Well, if you feel that your mind can’t take anymore then I would quit for a week or so and do something fun. Once you grasp he basics, it will be much easier for you to code and you will enjoy it much more. But otherwise, just practice because it truly does make perfect.

As Jax says, practice, practice and practice. It took me 1 year to learn 'advanced' programming concepts(kind of), 1 fucking year learning Lua(easy language, btw). Keep studying and you will see the results. Sorry if you don't understand me, english not is my native language.
