It is still very important to learn C++ because it helps a lot with problem solving skills and makes learning any other language very simple.

It is also not only used in video games. It is used in several GUI applications, many time-critical programs, and is actually strongly in machine learning. I would actually say that it is a better choice for machine learning because that requires a lot of calculations which can be slow, and that will only get worse over time because of how fast machine learning is expanding.

C++ is used in video games (console and mobile) while python is used in just about anything but video games.
