What is the point of html 5 if a lot of it requires JavaScript features an other languages. Is html basically a work in progress until it just becomes html like the other languages

HTML has always been kind of the skeleton of a page. People used to style elements of a page within HTML however over time that practice has become obsolete. CSS is required to style elements (and it does more too). That’s another language. The point of requiring javascript may be easy to understand this way: HTML just exists but has no function in and of itself. Think of it like a lifeless skeleton. CSS helps you decorate and make the skeleton look pretty. Javascript can make the whole thing come alive.
