[OFF-TOPIC] What is your average coding time?

Hi

I was wondering about the optimal time for a coder to complete a code project.
On an average, it takes me about 7-9 hours for a web code and 5 hours for a non-web :P

I want to know how much time it takes when you complete a code. For comparison purposes, take the project to be *100 lines* of code!

Well. That's a difficult question for me to answer. I guess the most accurate & summarized answer that I can give ... would be the total amount of time in between the first day that I began programming and today. I never truly finish a project. I admit that I occasionally try to lie to myself and tell myself that "I'm only going to add one more feature" ... but there's no fooling myself at this point, haha. I enjoy programming way too much. I hoard information, and justify that action by doing everything that I can to apply/create/append/modify whatever I can to find new ways of implementing newfound purposes for hoarded information LOL. I guess the ultimate goal is to learn every possible implementation when it comes to all of my programs' logic/structures, etc.

So ... my average project completion-time would be equivalent to "N divided-by 0".

First time to solve problem takes more time. Second time to solve same problem takes less time. The more you do it, the faster you become.

I am not talking about the past two/three codes, you know. I am saying that what is your average time based on the previous month or a couple of months. That will cover all kinds of complexity.
Right?

Jay Matthews, 2 or 3 weeks for a single code!! That makes sense to me like the codes had high difficulties.
Nowadays, we have just 40-60 minutes in schools for coding!

It all depends on the project, the project specs, if there is side programming, how technical or clean coding...
Some projects may be 100s of lines per hour while others may be 50 to 80 lines.
I don't really believe there is a absolute answer... And every forum I have read over the years suggest that there is no solid right or wrong answer.

I've got an Idea(stuid one)

why don't we start coding with a comment line that gives some basic information like "Creation date time, reason/question, trials etc" if you know what I mean.
Doing this with every code in future just for self-satisfaction.

I know it sounds obviously stupid but your question really made my life another kick.
From now on I'll make codes with First section as comment. I'll add everything I need. So later on whenever I want, I can calculate stuffs like how many days it took me to figure out the actual running code, when did I started, How many errors I faced etc.

It's like a mini Log for every code.

Later, I can always write/type in other text based applications about this log as a detailed info and give my code a Seriel number like "CPP31/MAR/001"

Great thing to evaluate and keeping track for us(students)

Plus I wanted to ask
What is a "Time took for X project"?
Coz, Mrs. WASP told me that yesterday she worked on that code till 1 AM while she published 2 codes that day and later said she was working on both codes at the same time.
How to consider the Time in a way like that?

Let's take an example:
I made a code and I'm done with a project named "Clock" and then for my another project I'm asked to create a webpage showing something else WITH clock.

Do You consider Time consumed by Clock + Another project?

I actually agree with the guy "Paul King"
Measuring in N lines of Code is a good metric
and again, he gave different examples for "Good" "Great" programmer and coding for web based to VM kernal etc.
