You are not the first one to make this mistake. But you are the first one I have ever seen apologising for it.

Hi Lee See Raa - First, let me start by saying no apology is needed and you need not feel ashamed for anything. I reviewed your responses to all the comments and you never once took credit for having written the entire script or claimed to have been the original creator for all parts of this code. You did not misrepresent yourself, nor did you try to deceive the community. Also, you didn't ask to have your code profiled as COTD.
You, like so many amazing people in this community, are active on SoloLearn to learn in an app designed for that very purpose.
What you did was take an interesting piece of open sourced work and used it as a center piece for your learning experience. Bravo... you are doing the right and best thing. I commend you for pushing yourself to learn. It's like being a junior developer on a team with very experienced senior developers. We would expect you to start off copying from our existing code as examples for you to adopt and make your own along the way. This is a great opportunity for you to demonstrate your aptitude for learning when interviewing for employers. Don't be afraid to profile interesting works you applied to other open sourced works. This is a sign of someone who is confident in their approach and knows how to recognize good projects and other open sourced scripts. It also allows you to emphasize your own talents and how you can be productive with derivative works at your stage of programming. It shows vision, initiative, and creativity.
The best programmers don't work in a bubble. We benefit from a collective sharing of knowledge. This is no different.
In light of everything I just explained, you absolutely embody the best of what makes SoloLearn shine and therefore deserve to be profiled for COTD.
You now have an opportunity to lead by example in this community by showing others there is nothing wrong with giving credit to original works even if you modified significantly.
I look forward to seeing more from you.

At first I just refer to the code to run for fun but did not expect it was COTD.
I can not allow people to appreciate while it's not just my own efforts.
It has gone too far from my imagination.
I do not know what to say anymore. I am so sorry about the incident.
Again I am so sorry everyone sorry my friends had expected and thought it was my effort.

we also remember : Respect the author, and continue living and learning,
And now people can forget about it and start a new journey.
p / s The match of season: Manchester United F.C. vs Manchester City is going on,
Nice weekend everyone!

🇳🇬Brains Typing from a keyboard makes it much easier to be more expressive in my thoughts.
On something like this, where a member made a public apology for something she felt shame for making an innocent oversight, I had to speak up and turn this into a learning experience, not only for her, but for everyone else.
I've seen too many people get pounced on in the past for making innocent mistakes. We live and learn. But, judgement, ridicule, or even worse, self inflicted shame should never be what any good citizen of this community should ever experience.
The things that make this community awesome for learners of all ages and all countries is the same thing that makes it challenging. There are people of all levels of maturity, intentions, experience levels, cultures, and languages.
If you consider these different perspectives, you can see that effective communication to everyone can be difficult.
For this reason, I tend to be more expressive to be clear to all members of all backgrounds.
Also, for me, it's definitely more about quality than quantity as it relates to posting responses.
If you wouldn't mind giving me honest feedback... is it bad or good for me to post longer responses? I promise, I will take no offense. It's good for me to know if I'm doing the wrong thing. 😉

No need to feel sorry at all. I would say very few code is original and most of it based on something written before. It might be via direct copy and paste or with your brain as intermediate buffer because your are using something you've learned before...

😘it's okay Lee See Raa

David Carroll You have got my full support, your answers are to the point and relevant. I do not think them lengthy. We learn from your input.
Lee See Raa Don't be too hard on yourself, you have done an important thing: you acknowledged and repaired the error. This is a big plus. Copyright is important, we need to learn how to acknowledge sources.

no problem
Copy paste everyone does that😀

meh I've seen other codepen taken codes awarded as COTD,given original credit is all that matters and..if the original author perhaps gives permission to reuse the code

lee see raa so you have footballing interests?
well cities 2-0 up so..
To the main point,i believe it was nice of you to come out and talk about this,it isn't a shame, youre a good coder in this community and since you've given credit to the original author it's really no big deal.
That said I'll still like to discourage people from always taking other codes (even if they give credit) all the time.We really do not want some guy to pop up with a hundred codepen codes and he's like "meh so what I gave credit to all of them",create some codes where you give credits to authors and others you write yourself.
I suddenly sound like my dad
goodday
