How do I get better at word problems?

The thing is when it comes to creating my own python code, I tend to be mildly good at it considering Iā€™m a beginner. Now when it comes to word problems, itā€™s like my brain just flops and canā€™t grasp anything that reads. I consider word problems my biggest weakness in math and science. Any tips on improving with word problems? Tips on improving overall?

I can give one tip for things related to language: to read more and improve language comprehension and vocabulary. As far as using it in problems I don't know what type of problems nor can imagine how to help there. I do however know that the more I read fiction novels as well as documentation looking for keywords it will improve my wordliness all around.
