Gaming industry is a very complex one that includes languages, graphic engines, graphics modeling.
HTML not.
HTML is not for that purpose.
You can create a web game but you will need to learn JavaScript for that.
Today you can use Unreal Engine 4 for free and for that you will need C++.
Or if you are lazy, go with Unity.
Or if you want creating mobile games then:
Swift for iOS
Java for Android
C# for Windows Mobile

if you plan to develop web based games then yes. plus trend nowadays is that you don't program with just one language but you use combination to meet their strengths.
