Why is Python growing so fast?

The growth of Python over last 5-6 years has amazed me. Here is a link where you can see it's exponential growth outsmarting other languages. https://stackoverflow.blog/2017/09/06/incredible-growth-python/ In early days the first language I learned was BASIC. Then C, C++, FORTRAN, JAVA etc. But now for my research work I write every code in Python. Is there anyone else feeling the same? What do you think about the growth of Python?
