Could someone clarify to me the difference between Div , Span & Article?

Without joking at all: I'm very serious...
They are all containers, only their shapes differenciates them, along with their behaviour which is pretty different for each (and could be changed through Css, about the three html elements obviously ;P)

Imagine using purely html (no CSS) to stylize text. That's all a span tag does. You can usually get by without it.

DIVs can do that and everything else. Open up a good website in firebug and you can the significance of the DIV and how multiple divs create the layout and style of the page.

Everything should be inside of a DIV.
