Iā€™m doing online college for programming while working full time in the IT field. So far the classes Iā€™ve taken are very easy and Iā€™ve learned more self studying. My mentor is a full stack JavaScript engineer and he said associates degree is more than enough to get you through 80% of the doors and what is more important is skill. So Iā€™m starting to build a portfolio now.

I got a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Studies back in 1998. I've been completely self taught with programming since 1996. I seem to know quite a few other talented developers who didn't study computer science in college either. We just somehow had a natural tendency to pick this up and were lucky enough to be successful despite not studying this in college.
