^Personally, if you're getting into the gaming industry, I'd recommend starting with the two main game engines that is used in the industry today. Unity utilizes C# and Unreal utilizes C++. Take a look at both of their websites and learn more on both of them, and then decide which one you want to work with first. I've used both, but at this time, I specialize in Unity.

Is it limited to just these? No. There are many engines that was created and utilizes other languages also, but those are the two mainstream giants right now.

Nothing wrong with JS, I've learned that as well. I've seen people create games with JS and HTML5 also, so it's worth looking into that if you're curious of it. It's not my cup of tea, nor what I prefer, but some people have pulled off some neat stuff with it. Ultimately, things depend upon the platform and type of game you're wanting to make.
