With so much to learn and never enough time in a day, how do you choose which to focus on?

not to mention what I seem to understand the best that particular day ... it's dependent on my 51 year old brain that occasionally devices not to focus

i just focus on what interests me and what will make my job easier whether it's Python and/or R :)
