Does learning a programming language make sense if you have no related projects or ambitions in mind?

I came here because Iā€™d simply like to have programming skills. I do not have ambitions to make it my living, I do not have any specific project to develop in my mind. Does it make sense or am I just losing my time? Are basics in programming such a skill that will once surely make my life easier (like reading, basic maths) or learning it with no special goal is not a good idea?

1. Do you enjoy it? --> Yes. 2. Does it hurt you in any way? --> No. Then yes, it makes sense. And I don't think you're wasting your time by learning a programming language, even if you don't use it after that, it can function as an important experience, still better than actually wasting your time. Not to mention that programming gives you a whole new perspective so yeah, I think it's worth spending time with programming even if your goal is not to make a living out of it.
