@Daniel Acer has a partition on the hard drive to factory reset so he doesn't need a disk. I'm guessing he was hoping to have a programming trick to get it to boot off that partition, since he couldn't get the function key to work. The one time I played with it took me many reboots before I tried the solution I suggested that worked for me.

Sometimes it help to hold both alt and f10 down from before the booting starts until you end up in the recovery menu. There is a short moment in time that it looks for it and, if you miss it, you're out of luck.

I think you might be misunderstanding something, or I never learned about what your talking about. So hopefully you created a restore point... I'm certified in windows 7 installs and such, never heard of installing from a HTML file... why not use the windows 7 disk? Acer sells it specifically for your computer, I think it's about $11 us dollars, was for me... Amazon/eBay also would have 1. Borrow a friend's windows 7 disk, that will guide you through for free, good luck!

@John I understand and all, but if your trick didn't work, didn't want him to think he was out of luck! If he can't do it your way, the disk should do the trick regardless...

I'm trying to do a factory reset on an Acer Aspire one, but the hot keys restore method isn't working right? I managed to get it into the Edit Boot options, & this is what's there,
Edit windows boot options for: windows7
Path: \windows\system32\winload.exe
Partition: 3
Hard Disk: cc74ee58
