From Java's perspective, it's a robust (many libraries with functions ready to be used) and dynamic (write the code in any platform, say windows, can works exactly the same on any other platform, say Linux) and is wildly popular programming language that can build Mobil apps(Android is a direct derived of Java), desktop apps and web apps, just to mention a few.
