How to learn programming?

Copy examples programs from books to computer? Try make my own program? Read and understand programs? How many time will take me be a software creator or software developer?

I know c++ (very basics) and I am learning python.

YouTube tutorials is your best bet if you aren't wanting to go to school. There are many tutorials that will lead up to the meat of what you need to know in C++. Don't copy, only copy if you know how the code works. Copying never really helps understanding how things work.

That really depends on your learning capabilities. How fast you learn, how well you are able to understand the language and so forth. For college it would take 3yrs to get a degree in programming (in a specific course). Some make take less some more. Again it all depends how much time you put into learning the language.
