Do we need Universities for programmers ?

What do u think, Universities can broaden your mind, logically your programming skills?

you can learn very much by yourself buy if you able to go to university it is also very good decision to ,like you say, broaden your mind...

Universities also provide a standardised degree. Without them, many people could walk into a job claiming to know their stuff. Uni ensures that candidates know specific things. It's like an ISO for people's qualifications. Yes many unqualified people make a success, but for HR in a big company, it acts as an initial "filter" to trim down how many applicants they'll have to deal with.
