Depends David, what you want to do with it. For example, if you just want to write programs I agree that C++ is a very good option. Next to Assembler (Machine language) it is the closest you get to actually go to processor level. However if you would like to control things, I would suggest you try Phyton too. Try to combine the programming language to a controller processed board like the ARDUINO or RASPBERRY PI. This will open a whole new world of possibilities for you, certainly because you are on the steps of life and still have a long road ahead of you. This will also be perfect for your future professional life because this is the best of the future. This will the best way to a professional job that has future and gives you a great satisfaction. I personally whish you a lot of success in your endeavor and search in the IT world, but keep in mind that only combined with technical skills the future will be yours. Try also to get into PHP, C#, Java. Try to get a foot in the WEB WORLD like THE INTERNET OF THINGS programming is getting very hot. I hope, I did not scared you with all this info but you are still very young and resilient so no biggy. Good luck, and keep in touch. I would like tobfollow your progress. And guy's and girls yes I am a pioneer from the early ages of DOS and started programming on a TANDY Model I Level I computer with 4k memory, in a time no one knew what to do and especially how to di it so life started with BASIC (Beginners All purpose Structural Information Code) like in the 1978 so about 39 years ago. I have been out of it fir about 15 years and meanwhile a lot of new programming languages did see the lights of days. I made my overal programming in Pascal, Cobol, dBase, Quicksilver, dBxl, Visual Basic, Fox Base and some others... Good luck David !!!

HTML is the most basic and easiest language to understand (in my opinion). Be aware, though, that HTML isn't a programming language.
