Chatbot using python

Question

I want to design a chatbot using python what are basic concepts i need to learn and where should i start from....can you please state some open sources for me to learn...thanks in advance!

It should be possible to get somewhere with beginner tutorials.
You'll probably need datatypes, especially strings, asking the user for input, storing the input into variables, doing something with the variables like checking if something is true or not or case statements to let the chatbot give different replies based on the user input etc.
