Here’s your thread. 😉

@Frost
He presented questions, and I'm presenting him answers to the questions. Granted, he could have asked that in the top question area, but regardless, he still asked his questions and they're appropriate ones that are relevant. Just to be safe, he even informed that it's off-topic.
However, the only increase in spam due to this thread is coming from you. I understand where you're coming from though, and I understand you have to put on the script to sustain your moderator badge, but approaching it from a realistic point, we did the right thing by creating this thread instead of spamming an unrelated thread with this discussion.
This is more than a Q&A section, it's a 'Discuss' area, which heavily implies that people can discuss things instead of simply asking/answering a question. It's not off topic in regards to programming or this field.
As for comments, you can't do that in the Web version, which is what I use. SoloLearn doesn't carry the same features between mobile app and website. As well, you're here to tell us not to spam, but you're suggesting that we chat in existing threads, which is spam.

@Jakob
Maybe we are. 😉
I believe while I was typing my answer u already clarified ur intentions regarding the answer you previously posted. Anyways I'm glad the confusion got clarified.
Now i gotta stop here or it would really look like I'm turning this into a chat thread 😅

@Jakob
My only concern was regarding the creation of a whole new thread for the sole purpose of interaction. I am not encouraging you to spam in other threads but was just saying that the existing threads can be used too/comments on the code can be used.
*The only spam in this thread is coming from you .. I understand u have to put up scripts to sustain ur moderator badge*
The fact that i *spammed* this thread is because i was just doing what I thought was right and not just because i am a Moderator and *need to put up scripts*
Again if you see from my perspective the thread started like a normal chat thread (i agree the questions are not as such spams ) and a result of which i recommend using the ones already present.
Regarding the web version, i don't use the web version so i accept the fact that it may not be possible, then again i believe the 2nd para of your so long answer wasn't needed.. U could've just said that you use web version and it isn't feasible to do what I suggested.

How about something like...
"Looking for help in getting started in Unity."
Then, in the description section, something like:
"Created this question specifically for guidance from Jakob Marley."
This is just a suggestion. You can use what you suggested as well. 😉

@Jax... As a father to 5 kids myself, I would take the same position as your parents. The most important thing is to get consent from your parents and to be completely upfront about what you're doing online. Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders when it comes to that.
At the very least, I'm sure we can setup something on Twitch for live video screen sharing, or add you to whichever repo we end up using. Also, I'm personally partial to Slack, but anything works for me.
Perhaps, we'll put things out on YouTube with a sample app to share with the community. I haven't really thought that far ahead. But I'd really like to turn this into a learning opportunity for myself and for others.

No offense taken. I am a stranger and should be treated as such. That's how I would want my kids to think about it online.

You can also remove the off topic and spam tags.

Jakob... Are you in the Discord server? I'd be interested in helping with a laid-back project for Unity. I've been dabbling with the 3D Engine myself on a virtual Rubik's Cube. However, I think 2D gaming would also be great to work with as well. I've considered building something similar to Bowmasters as a sandbox to explore the 2D gaming phyics in Unity.

@Frost
By the way, I'm very much aware that I'm an insanely direct and blunt person. I was raised that way, and I've spent a lot of time focused on communication so I can say what I mean and mean what I say. Please understand though that I have nothing at all against you, and by no means is my reply to you meant in a hostile way. I speak my mind and I do my best speak in an honest manner.
I understand your purpose and why you posted what you posted. I hope that you equally understand my reply to you and don't take it personal.

@Jax... This is a great thread with a very specific topic. Would you mind updating your question to reflect the topic? Otherwise, at first glance, it could appear as a placeholder for general chat which is something we wouldn't want to somehow morph into a trend.

@Frost
I looked at it from your perspective, which is why I addressed in my first paragraph that he could have posted his question in the question body instead. That's also why I even decided to reply to you a second time and ensure that we leave this as an understanding and not mistake it as hostility, as I understand you're just doing your job the best way you can and I just happen to be the idiot you're dealing with at the moment.
^^"Granted, he could have asked that in the top question area, but regardless, he still asked his questions and they're appropriate ones that are relevant."
What you thought was right is in regards to moderation, which is why you're a moderator and why you approached it in that way. Nothing wrong with that, so don't get me wrong with what I'm saying to you. Moderators are a necessary element. I called it scripted because it was the same generic "don't do that" post and no further insight/questioning took place to understand the situation so an appropriate action could be taken (or not).
I imagine none of my paragraphs were "needed" and I could have said it in the way you would have said it, but I also imagine that's the same in both directions. You could have just said, "Don't spam" or post link to guidelines and leave it at that, but for some reason both you and I like to fully explain things to others; I've no idea what that says about us, but personally, I think we're both good people with good intentions, right?
Anyways, it's a pleasure to discuss it with you and try to understand each other. If you need to call me a *insert cuss word here*, then you're more than welcome to do so; no hard feelings. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

@Jakob: I'll try to follow up on Discord later tonight. I'm actually recovering from the flu and have been in hibernation mode the past couple days. 🤢
@Rawdge: Ping us on Discord when you get around to joining. My username is davidcarrlldev.
@Martin: As always... you crash me up mate. 🤣

@Jax... One suggestion is for you to give her your Discord App credentials so she can log in with your account from her phone and monitor everything. That would be full transparency. I have Discord on both my computer and phone. When I type on one client, I see it pop up on the other client. If that's not convincing, I have to recommend you respect her wishes. If that is the case, I wouldn't let it upset you. You have plenty of time as you get older to get involved on other collaborations. I have no doubts you'll be fine. ;)

@Jax, as much as I love freedom, I understand your mom's perspective, in short, it's just a token of love from her, she must really love you that she tries all best she can to protect you as one of her children, believe me when I say you are blessed to have such a loving mom.
FYI, sadly, the story your mom told you is a bitter true of reality, as much as we live on different part of this world, I can tell you that the same story comes up quite frequently in my country too, on TV, web news portal etc., and the frequency added with hoax news from social medias and messaging apps had triggered paranoia for parents, that once an old woman was literally beaten up for being mistaken as a kidnapper, that's how worried parents are these days.
I see that you are wise enough to care for yourself and aware of the risks, that's good, but I really really hope you don't take your mom's decision as a way to restrict you, honestly mate, these days, we just cannot be too careful.
Your good intention to help others with their stuffs is a noble deed, however, we all know that good intentions and nobility are some of the things that are abused by manipulators and cheap cheaters, they know how to trigger others' feelings and play it to their benefits (mostly evil ones).
As for learning and earning, I guess you don't have to worry, I'm sure there will come your time for that later, no need to rush things up anyway, enjoy your youth time, once the clock ticks there is no turning back, be happy with this period.
I'm sorry for the tl;dr but I just feel like I have to say something, despite the fact it's being OOT, well, all the best for you mate : )

Hey Jakob... Ping me in DiscordApp to let me know where in GA. I'm curious how close we are to each other.

@Rawdge... It's not frowned upon to post specific links to other learning platforms as long as it is not spammy and brings real value to the discussion.
Of course, good judgement should be exercised to reference only safe, credible, and legal sites. I would also avoid using URL shorteners because it hides the end point from the link. Hopefully, this helps clarify that position.

Thanks! The reason I wanted books is because, I can get a lot more out of a book than online (and I hate searching for hours trying to find the right answer because there are so many people that are wrong online and have messed me up). I looked at a local book store yesterday and found a promising book, but it wasn’t exceptionally large and yet cost a whopping $60.00. That’s why I need help finding a good book for Unity that will help me out a lot. If I bought that book and got home to find it was pretty much useless I would be out of so much money (may not seem like much but I still have to pay for college, and a car later) but hopefully I’ll get a job later this year to help pay for some of my hobbies (I have a few other hobbies that all cost a lot)

@Jax
What's funny is that we met the exact same way, you've just gotten use to me. lol If I recall, you were telling me to shut up also originally, but then we started talking about Godzilla. :D
In regards to your other reply, you're more than welcome bro. I'll do what I can to help you out with all of it. If you join up on the projects, maybe we'll make enough money to help fund your hobbies later.
Speaking of which, that's really cool hobbies you have there. I'm assuming you're some sort of archery champ? That's so freakin cool. :D
Let me know when you get discord or something so we can communicate outside of this place.

@David, thanks for notifying, and sorry about that, I only post once, well this is not the first time it happens, I once post a comment on a code, but there were 3 copies of it, I'm not sure why, but anyone can always tell me if it happens, I'll delete the copies ASAP : )
Sorry @Everyone...

At the moment I have a few projects that I'm working on, some of them for learning purposes and some of them for profit in the end. Obviously, I put a lot more time into the ones I plan to market out to people, and in my spare time / down time I work on the other stuff.
My -main- project that I'm working on is a 2D MMORPG game that'll be on PC and mobile. I can't really go into the specifics of it here though, but if you're able to find a means (discord/email) to talk with me outside of SoloLearn, I don't mind filling you in on everything.
Here is a test demo I created back in August I believe. It's outdated at this point, but it's the last vid I posted. In the vid I was testing out the day/night/time cycle and weather systems I was creating.
Test video here: (you may have to set it to 720p+)

My intentions with this game is to generate consistent funding so I can quit my day job and focus 100% on games. As well, I'm hoping it'll generate enough money to further fund my indie gaming company and future projects.
I have another 2D game i'm working on that'll start off as a single player game and introduce multiplayer later. I don't have vids of it at the moment though as I'm still working on the core systems for it. Again, I do this one in my free time when I'm not working on my main projects.
(will continue in new post, running out of chars)
