[🔉THREAD🔉] Google announced Flutter, a cross-platform mobile development SDK!

Cross-platform? Yeah! Read more here: https://flutter.io, or maybe just Google it. As for language support, I've heard that it's Dart only (Dart is like Java, with terse syntax). I also feel like this would be a great opportunity for Dart to expand its currently limited user base as well, which is quite exciting. I will log progress in the comments to give you some insight how development is. Current project: water tracker! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's the first version of my first actual app (even if it is mostly a test): https://code.sololearn.com/ckPzoY05g3vM/?ref=app

Hojun, Flutter aims to be another tool for the creation of applications with Dart. Google has not notified that it will withdraw the support to Kotlin to program on Android, and in any case there will always be an alternative to do so. If you started to learn a language and you like it then continue with it. The possibilities of language will always expand progressively. I personally want to use Dart because what I have seen has caught my attention as a developer, but not because it is linked to a specific platform.

Dart starts to look interesting, especially because in version 2 it can be executed without Dartium (for web development). And the syntax is very simplified in that version to work with Android. I am very curious and eager to try the language.

Thanks for sharing! It’s a shame it’s only for Dart though.

If I were honest, Dart is a good language. It's like Java, but with much cleaner yet syntax, dynamic types, type inference, and more. Of course Google would promote it, it's their own language 😁

I'm currently building an app that reminds me to drink water every so often, because I never get enough water. Except on Saturdays, when I drink way too much water. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So far, development has been smooth, with a little bit of trouble nesting Rows and Columns due to how the render process works, but everything is so much simpler than I had anticipated.

I just tried native android development and it's a lot harder to get started with than with Flutter... hm

I've tried this today, and so far it's been a really good experience. It's a lot easier to use than Java, and hot reload is amazing.

Flutter apps effort in a smooth and reckless way, without lagging and cutting while scrolling. If you want to know why and how Flutter programming language " https://www.cubix.co/blog/flutter-app-development-pros-and-cons " and the whole thing works from the technical point of view.
