You don't have to memorize the tags, but it does help. As long as you have a reference to look at, to help you your fine. If you want to find out how you can memorize the tags here's what I do: 1) learn what the tag is, and how it works 2) read it again, and again till you know it like the back of your hand IF THAT DOESNT WORK: 3) expand your knowledge with books (html&css) 4)use that book when ever you have trouble 5)use the tags you have the most trouble with, alot

Coding is telling a computer what it should memorize and do. So, you don't need to memorize codes. You need to learn "more experience at coding is better coding memory". So, if you want to be a strong coder, practice more!

There is no need to memorize it, there is need to know about it - :there is some command (object, class, method, ) which to do anything. (for example, coloriizing, change font ..) . Because when you need it , you have to look for descripton, help, online help. Of course, it gets slowly your work, but in time after much coding you shall remember the often using commands without memorize it.
