Let me start by saying Game Development is honestly a very fun but tricky field. There are many languages you can develop games in such as Python (pygame library), C++ (Unreal Engine 4, OpenGL), C# (Unity3D), Java (OpenGL, custom), JS (browser games), and the list goes on. I recommend choosing your favorite programming language and searching for either a) an existing engine or b) create your own engine (or stand-alone game). You should start off following YouTube tutorials as they can go very in depth. Also do your own independent research on whatever library or engine you chose to work with as you’ll most likely need to understand Rendering, 2D Physics, Sprite Sheets, Sound, and much more. I realize this sounds overwhelming although after lots of practice you could have a final product that is stunning and all the work is definitely rewarding. Keep in mind if you plan on making this your career you should probably find others to work alongside for creating game art, UIs, and more. You must be open to working in a team! Good luck :D
