What's the relationship/similarities/differences between hacking and cracking

A hacker is defined in 3 classes (white, black and gray hatted).

But a cracker is...well. It's just a guy making programs like rar cracked. And available for free even if it's not.

Crackers have saved my life earlier yes. But it's not ethical to do things like that.

And hackers have the capability to improve the program or do security patches. So be a hacker instead of a cracker.

Cuz we all know hackers are cool 😎.
