Recommends Python
BASIC was my first language. Not recommended. JavaScript was my second. Also a good first.

Python will be best!

That depends entirely on what you want to do. Did you research what you want to do with software?

Do you want to work on the web? Do you want to build apps for mobile? Do you want to build networking packet sniffers? Do you want to get into building programs for devices like toasters(internet of things)? This list is nearly limitless. I say start there and find out which way you want to go and which languages the field you want uses.

Years ago I learnt Turbo Pascal as it was very structured. I haven't used it for years and have forgotten it, I thought learning Python would be good for me as it is structured very similar, then I tried learning C++ after and found it difficult to transition to a more involved language, could be mainly my old brain. But I think learning something like C++ or Java first it will be easier to learn other languages. Like if you learn an automatic transmission car the try to drive a manual, it is more difficult. I always recommend people learn a manual car then it is easier to drive automatic afterwards.
