Out of all of the modern programming languages, which one is the most in demand and pays the most? What kind of salary can one expect as a developer in that area?

Well, this is a hard question to answer. It depends on many factors, such as country, experience in programming, and even job, such as bideo game dev, web dev, and many more. What do you have in mind?

If you are looking for non-web programming I would say Between C++, Java, and Python.

niche programming languages such as assembly can sometimes pay alot, or old programming languages for systems that need to be maintained but where the original programmers are retiring like for example cobol

The Glassdoor link is broken. I had a chart that explained average salary for different IT Jobs but it was back in 2014. I am sure it has increased since then.
