niche programming languages such as assembly can sometimes pay alot, or old programming languages for systems that need to be maintained but where the original programmers are retiring like for example cobol

The Glassdoor link is broken. I had a chart that explained average salary for different IT Jobs but it was back in 2014. I am sure it has increased since then.

It would be for an entry level position in the United States. The programming would be some kind of software development or backend web development.
