Are Perl dead?

There are not so much projects using Perl language, not many jobs. Can somebody tall me his current condition. Is it still an actual language? Who work with it? Who know it's future?

Perl is a good language for scripting, even though it has been on the decline in popularity. It's a pretty easy and useful language to learn.

The book learning Perl by Randal Schwartz and Tom Phoenix makes it really simple if you're motivated enough.

Perl is easy to learn, that is some thing new! I heard opposite - it is hard to learn, relevantly speaking...

Perl can be used wherever Python is used. Perl is also very efficient for text parsing and regex (more than python) and well integrated with OS, with some linux shell command available natively in the language. Seen in shell scripting, web backend and test automation.
