Great developers are rare. Their productivity is significantly higher than an average developer. The good news is many average programmers never take steps to becoming a better programmer. I run Scalable Path, a freelancer marketplace. After working with over 5,000 developers, I have spotted attributes that many of the best devs have in common. Positive Attitude: A great programmer cares about your product. They are positive, willing to go the distance to get the job done and bring their best everyday. Although it’s important not to exhaust a developer with frequent urgent deadlines, sometimes this is unavoidable. When you need to bring a product to market or need to ship a certain feature out by the deadline, the great programmer will step up and get the product released whenever possible. Because they care. A great developer doesn’t let their ego get in the way of taking feedback. https://www.quora.com/How-do-i-become-an-advanced-programmer

I can only tell you things relative to how far I've gone myself however here are some things I've found useful for growth. practice lots of it. it takes time and effort to grow. learn some theory read some other people's code. seeing how others solve problems is really useful especially if they are smarter than you. learn some about compilers I can't say it's strictly necessary but understanding how your computer understands code has been helpful. solve a problem more than once see if you can do better in a way you can measure. finally review basics their useful really useful they are the basics for a reason. don't know if that helps or is interesting but their you are
