A language is just a tool. A better question to ask yourself is: about what is it you want to do that you can't do with the skills you have now? And why? Then you can ask yourself if learning java/Ruby help towards that goal. Java is a good bet if you are technical.

if you are interested in java you could have a look at springboot https://spring.io/projects/spring-boot Alternatively if you want to specialise in front end only, have you considered nodejs?

https://nodejs.org/en/docs/guides/getting-started-guide This is basically JavaScript. Whatever language you choose for backend you could also study test automation with that language (using selenium webdriver)
