Which is better for a beginner to start several languages together, or just to study one by one?

for example java and python, php since almost all programming languages are alike in functions and different in naming conventions.

With my experience, I learned C++ first (not saying you necessarily have to start with that). I stuck with it for about 2 straight years due to school as that was the requirement, all programs written in C++. However back to the main point, picking one language and mastering it allows you to understand important programming topics such as Data structures, Algorithms, and effectively putting pieces of code together and solving a particular problem. Once you know how to code/program and solve problems very well, learning a new language is relatively easy. It is just new syntax and quirks that you have to get used to. The programming is very similar logically and one you have a strong understanding it's easy to adapt. Good luck!

Try to complete one language, master one but study another meanwhile.
