I tried to install sql server 2008 in my laptop and it halted !....what might be the problem and possible solution?

Please provide more information, as it is now, there is not enough information to even guess what's wrong. How it went, just halted (no progress), or crushed, error message, source of installer, is there a firewall installed, any conflicting software, any extra information is valuable.

Do you have any software for checksum verification with you? I would first check that, in case for corrupt or damaged installer. A corrupt installer can run, but may not complete installation process. Decent download sites usually display the checksum value for you to check. This case can be ignored if the installer actually downloads another file for the installation.

I'm not too familiar with the softwares you mentioned, but I once faced a trouble running the service due to a firewall blocking the port used for the server, that's why I asked, if it was probably the case.

I am assuming you ran the installer with administrative account?

Please, no need for Skype or WA id, if it was possible, and if there was any, can you post the error message. I can't promise you a solution, but I can try to help you find one, hopefully.

Am not sure whether there are conflicting softwares but i have installed; visual studio 2010, xampp, JDK,JRE,wireshark, bullzip ms access to sql, .NET Reflector & rufus....am not sure how should the firewall be....but i have not installed any....am using windows 10, i believe the firewall is inbuilt.....i downloaded the software from getintopc.com after the one from microsoft behaved the same!

It is halting at the installation. . passing or the test & showing an error at restart machine, once i restart the same problem again.....i really need it, if it means sending my skype id or whatsapp id i will inorder to show realtime videos & photos on the errors appearing
