JavaScript can be hard (was and arguably can still be for me at times). Having a solid foundation in HTML and CSS can help. Don't be afraid to move slowly and review a lot. Practice in the Code Playground (curly braces from the app version, green circle with plus sign to add new project, select Web for project type, JavaScript is the third tab). After finishing the JavaScript course, check out jQuery ... it's a very old JavaScript library that makes JavaScript a bit easier to think about (in my opinion).
