What was Python actually made for?

When Guido Van Rossum created this incredible programming language, what did he actually want to use it for?

Python isn't just for small programs. Python is used by big companies for but things. YouTube, for instance is written in Python as is pretty much everything at Dropbox. Python is a general purpose language so it can be used for anything that Ruby, Java, C, or C++ would be used for. It does feature much lower time to create something than many of its counterparts but tends to be slower (not always the case). It is most commonly seen in the web development space and data science but again that is not what it is limited to. Also Python was originally created by Guido Van Rossum.

From what I know, when you need to make a small application, and the language doesn't matter, you should go for Python because it is a very flexible programming language. I just worked out the answer myself!
