How to chose any domain(like machine learning, internet of things,etc)in computer engineering?and how to start with any domain?

To be honest I think the best way is to pick up the domain that gives you thrills. Some people like building creative visual structures, let them specialize in UI and applications. Some others love to solve logical problems - let them work in algorithms. And so on.
Just ask yourself what gives you the thrills :) Try some small projects of several different types -- this will give you a glimpse of each of the subjects and a feeling on how big each discipline is.
