What programming language is mostly used for developing avionics on an airplane?

Would it be embedded C, C++, Java or other? Anyone know what is most popular for this purpose? I ask more about the in-flight avionics rather than air traffic control systems.

C++, Ada and C for critical systems. A knowlege of Assembly will be required. Non critical sytems use all sorts; Java, C#, Python...

avionics use c because all the oops programming languages are slow. avionic equipment need to make decisions very fast so compiled machine code is the way to go. an interpreted code would cause any equipment to be at least 5 times slower
