New Messenger Visibility

New Sololearn update has Messaging feature as you may already know. Also there is grouping feature.😃
The question:
Can mods see private chat?
If yes, which type of mods? Only platinum mod or all?
I think not.

I can see everything including what you do in your basement at 3a.m. I then make a list of who's naughty and who's nice.

No tier of mods can see your private conversations.
We believe that as a member of this community, any violation of rules (if done through personal messaging) by anyone will be reported by you.

Additional questions: if anyone (including mods) can see private chats is that an invasion of privacy? I thought SL was not going down the private messaging path. Is SL getting itself into unnecessary legal issues by introducing private chats?

Was private messaging a needed feature? I'm fairly new on the app, so I might be wrong, but I feel like autosave for codes, bookmark feature for posts, and maybe some options to filter the activity feed should've been prioritized.

Regarding privacy concerns:

As of this post, the ToS and Privacy Policy have not been updated since May 24, 2018. I would speculate that private messages will be treated in much the same way as private Code Playground projects ("Limited Audience User Submission").

The Privacy Policy states (twice, perhaps for emphasis?):

"What if I have questions about this policy?

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our privacy policies, please send us a detailed message to [e-mail], and we will try to resolve your concerns."

HunterDSpammer I agree with you. 🤔

My impression was that private messaging was overwhelmingly requested across multiple threads. It also should have the side benefit of alleviating some of the chatting that tends to go on in the Q&A threads by providing a specific (in-app) outlet for it (the Mitali fan club threads come to mind). Discord has been a good alternative, but it is a third party software, so I would imagine it's harder to control what goes on there (e.g. protecting our younger community members).
