What is the best modern language to learn?

I read about go and others, but can not figure out which one will be the next step in computing. Any suggestions?

AL Araf, I have read quite a few of your comments and I want to share an opinion here.

I also like Python very much, but I see you advertising Python as the up-and-coming language in every thread where it even remotely fits.

You are playing oracle too much! If you look around on the web, you find all sorts of comparisons about how popular or widely used languages are right now, and there's always also speculation going on, and the results not always agree.

We should not overly simplify things here on Sololearn and suggest to other beginners that there is a single supreme language when we can't really prove it and there probably isn't one.

I hope you'll consider this.
