With all respect i think challenges should have 30 seconds more to finish.

*Asterisk* i guess we got no say in downvoting, maybe someone has missed the overall message J. K. Was trying to send or found any objectionable statement. Anyway, I liked that answer and would love to hear more discussion on this to get more feedbacks. Yeah! Few quizzes are scary, but personally I like challenges and if I couldn't get them the first time I ll definitely get them the next time, So I like tough( good brain teasing ) questions. But this problem that these questions have no references here on sololearn(or at least a good way to find them) must be looked at, "it can be demoralizing" I ll try to bring it up with other mods as well.

Yes, sometimes questions require a lot of calculations. We need more than 30seconds. 1 minute is better 👍

I used to think extra time was necessary, but then I thought a minute would be plenty of time to cheat 😀, which would defeat the purpose

They are great to get your noodle network going but they really do not teach if you are lost. They are great to exercise what you have learned but if the subject is out of your scope and learning, and there is no immediate feedback on a wrong answer, they are lessons in learned helplessness and a downward spiral of personal defeat. Brain teasers are for people who massage their brains and use metrics to compare themselves. We all want to succeed in education and there is no place for hard knocks in professional circles, there is no use for brow beating associates of any caliber. Programmers have to work as a team not as a defenced city eager to defend a weak position of ignorance with gotcha micro tests. I Iike the challenges but they are not producing productive educational results. WHERE ARE THE COMMENTS. Where? Each line of code used for teaching should have comments. Challenges have no comments with the code. To what purpose does that serve? The choice to review the answer should be available.

That 10 seconds where you are still WTF'ing from the previous question, so you only have 20secs left for a genuinely 30sec problem...

Definitely! A time increase is needed for many programming questions. Maybe not so much for the HTML challenges. I've seen some c++ challenges that are over 10 lines with tough formula where the time runs out before I can finish reading the code. A COOL idea would be variable timming where by depending on the length or complexity of the challenge the time would be longer by x amount.

J. K. I completely agree! I mean... I think I have the hand of a language that I've been using for three years, but then I do a challenge and it throws all this random stuff that I've never encountered and isn't found in the SoloLearn lessons/explanations. Then it doesn't explain it when I get it wrong. Not to mention, all of the questions are made by users and I swear I have gotten a few iteration questions right that the creator screwed up on. Flawed system completely.

Alex you can always consult does who know it... sit down with and solve it, and come back the next time to get it right.... when i started challenge i do sit down with book to solve some problems sometimes am too slow and sometimes on time, and sometimes i fail, sometimes i gat it right, but what i learn on the journey was that after having been doing that for some time am improving not having to use my book again, sometimes i fail and sometimes you know i get it right....; the goal of the challenge is what you don't get, it's not just for only fun, it's also to increase your brain cap and problem solving skills... i gain alot from it though, i hope you will too bro

Ok, i know most of you dislikes my opinion because i bring a confrontation by saying "No, its better to shorten the time." (Read this first) Just for personal opinion, The additional 30 seconds is not justified. Why? Because, Sololearn made this feature to make it not been cheated. You know what can i do in 30 seconds? I can write again the code, run it, and get the correct answer. Its very UNFAIR when you have thought it for a minutes, and you were defeated bcs of the enemy do cheats. Even, in such current time, i can still rewrite the code. Thats why i said Lets shorten the time. Yes, maybe it will be hard, but that will be the real challenges is. To think fast and count fast!

First, think about name : "Challenge" And youre making it not challenging. Youre making it easy and easy to cheat.

Of course if at least some questions would have explanations would be great, just because, at least me, have learned through challenges(also).

Demoralizing may be too harsh a critique, how about this: you are teaching learned helplessness in a win / lose competition in what is disguised as an educational app. It is about as dysfunctional a way to teach something as there is. Tests are to measure knowledge and skill. Competitions are for arenas and big trucks in mud with big tires flickjng mud on frenzied fanatics with less than a Nascar mentally, you know, morons like trump. Getting more points is not a measure of accedemic skill like it is rewarded as presented. If you like class distinctions or are insecure and need pure narcisistic reward, just do the world a favor and work alone. What Solo has going for it are the many disciplines that can be learned, it is a strong attraction. Trump promised everyone that if he was elected, we could expect a mexican paid for wall. Sizzle of a steak is not the steak itself, is it? You got good sizzle here, but where is the beef? meeting other learners in a competition is exciting, I give you that.
