How much python basics should I learn so that it will be easier for me to learn Java for android development?

I agree with Gordon. Since your endgame is android development, learn java which is the primary language used to develop in android. After java, learn kotlin which is another language used in android development.

You want to learn python as base of java?
I would recommend you to go for Java directly.
Because Java and python has a lot of difference in syntax and functionalities.

Or if you want base to learn java, you can go for c++. And c++ will help you in Android development also.
