Just learn Java or kotlin or even both and show them your skills when you have an job interview. Skill is more important than a degree.

It can be done without a degree, but the person with a degree will (almost) always be picked over the person without a degree.
The college degree will give you a deeper insite into the why things are done the way they are.
On your own you can learn the how, but the why will in the long run be what companies are looking for.

Learn, practice, challenge,master c,c++, c# or java/kotlin, make your github account big adding great codes that you made, company's used to hire people by just having a good github account. Sign a application go to the interview and show them what you can do.

Russ Venlos that's excuses you limit yourself, vs dojo worked for Google and he didn't have a degree, look at any business owner or or company they didn't say they can't do it, they went and did it. you have a point some companies are picky for sure I can agree with that.

(last post on this subject) Look at the vast majority of business owners. You will find a degree.
This is not to say “give up” but to say “Find a way to get the degree”. It will provide unending advantages.
No one with a degree regrets getting one.

You can also develop your own apps, get a google dev licence, upload your app to the store and monetize it (with ads or paying app). Of course, this requires a bit of luck but it can be done.
