Do you need to know C before you can start with C++?

No need to know C before C++, although it would be advantageous. The beginning of C++ largely involves C anyway so by learning C++ you also learn basic C. But advanced C++ is way different from C so it would be a waste of time to learn C seperately just to learn C++. I haven't specifically learned a single bit of C and I can write C just fine. P.S. Nice avatar :)

I have read the book: C++ the complete reference by Herbert Schildt The book nicely shows how C is a subset of C++ (With some exception) Learning C will help you getting started with object oriented concepts and few new ideas that C++ brings faster.
