Why many people give up on Programming languages?

I have seen many people challenge and gain xp from HTML, CSS, JS but they fairly engaging on other languages like Java, Python, C. I wonder what is the reason for that. Are they afraid of them? Learning web technologies is fine, but they have plenty of support here to start their learning.

Web tech seems easier, and most people looking to gaining quick XPs just find it as the "way to go ".
