Life as a Computer Programmer

Question

What’s life like for someone in this profession? Nobody in my family works even close to this and my mother is the only one with a college degree.

There are a lot of different branches in this "profession". Different types of programmers do different things and there isn't one answer to all of it. I've found this though, and it contains a few very specific examples on what it's like, but again, in limited context with a lot of stereotypes. The truth is it's just like working in any other field - There's the struggle, the learning experience, and the feeling of accomplishment.
