Is it possible to install Linux on an Android phone?(and preferably be able to switch easily?)

Is there any way to install the Linux OS onto an Android phone/tablet and be able to switch back and forth easily. I have a Lenovo Tab 4 (2016) with 16GB ROM

Other than terminal, if you want to run the an actual distro, you need a rooted phone. There is an app called 'linux deploy', with it you can install full linux distro (but it will be slow depending on your phone specs), won't be very useful thought
